One Star
A roof over your head and some privacy. You wouldn't choose to stay here but you cannot deny it's a hotel.

Two Star
Minimum standard that you might actually choose. You'd stay in one overnight before a flight maybe.

Three Star
Good standard for general tourism. You'd book one without thinking, but not expect it to be memorable.

A "nice" hotel. You might be excited to see what it's like. You would expect it to add to your experience of the trip.

- Bar has all basics and barkeepers will make cocktails (looking them up is fine)
- Bathtub and shower in all bathrooms (combo allowed)
- Cafe/bar for coffee, drinks, light bites from 6-midnight
- Cards, board games available
- Correspondence stationery and pens

- English-speaking staff
- Office area
- Restaurant (availability not guaranteed)

- Some rooms with private outdoor space available

Five Star
A destination hotel. You'd happily stay in the hotel all day. You'd have unique experiences and all your needs would be catered to.

- At least one restaurant that is a destination restaurant in itself
- Bar has all basics plus vintage champagne, fine wines, cocktails (looking cocktails up is fine but they should pretend not to)
- Bidet
- Cigars available
- Laundry / ironing / dry cleaning
- Multiple sporting or leisure activities or spaces other than pool. E.g. tennis, ice rink, bowling alley
